Yoga
At Zazen we practice yoga as a way of cultivating embodied meditative presence. Yoga offers the opportunity to deepen your awareness and self understanding through breath, movement and meditation. There are many different styles of yoga. While they all have benefits, it is important to evaluate your own needs. Yoga is a personal journey and we encourage students to look within and find the style that best resonates with them.
Meditation
Zazen means seated meditation.
At Zazen we practice sitting and walking meditation daily, as a way to cultivate spaciousness, calm awareness and joy in the present moment. We practice meditation as a way of stopping, of doing nothing amidst all the distraction, as a way of setting aside our conditioned habitual ways of relating to the world and finding a more spacious free relation to what is. Stop. Breathe. Smile. |

Massage
At Zazen we practice bodywork and massage as a way to release tension and create a sense of embodied spaciousness. Most of us do not experience our body as a spacious, tension free field for encountering the present world as it is. Rather our body is experienced as a constraint, an accumulation of past anxieties and future concerns standing between us and a tension free relation to the present. Zazen massage therapists will help you become aware of your bodily holding patterns and will help to release them through a combination of techniques responsive to your particular situation. Let go. Release. Relax.
Floatation
At Zazen we offer sensory deprivation floatation as a way to experience spaciousness and meditative presence. By decreasing the strains of gravity on the body and greatly reducing the external stimuli that constantly solicit our attention, floatation frees up energy to meditate on the remaining internal stimuli and ever present background awareness. Experience the spaciousness of floating weightless.
