Darin Jay Lehman (E-RYT 500) ~ Yoga Teacher, Facilitator, Qigong, Shamanic Guide
Darin Jay Lehman (E-RYT 500) has always been a soul-surfer. Not looking for the best answers, looking for the best questions to bring meaning, happiness and fullness into life. A surfer, artist, musician, writer, avid outdoors-man and occasionally a bohemian world traveler, Darin needed to find a grounding practice to complement the fluidity in his life, to help him find balance.
Darin’s teachings are an integrative approach, weaving the path between modern day understandings of the world and more traditional timeless teachings of many diverse and beautiful cultures, including but not limited to, the yogic, shamanic, and judaic paths. Darin walks the line between form and formless; “we hold non-attachment to the form, but respect and reverence for the tradition, an internal knowledge of the formless permeating everything that is manifested physically.”
Darin is an innovator, merging the physical practices of yoga and qigong, with the connection to higher Spirit, the elements, the directions, all of our own personal guides, guardians and teachers. Darin brings the expression of Bhakti (devotion) into his classes through the use of singing Kirtan songs, chanting, Icaros (earth medicine music) and playing a variety of instruments. Darin also incorporates ceremony into his classes including Mantra, Cacao Ceremony, Shamanic Drum Journey’s, Råpe, and Plant Medicine Journeys.
Darin loves to use his breath-work knowledge and life experiences to engage and compel his classes, to allow students to deepen their own practices at their own pace and push themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Darin leads yoga classes at retreats and music festivals around California, Guatemala, Peru (www.shamanicyogaperu.com), Costa Rica, Israel and many other beautiful locations around the U.S. and around the world. After co-founding Zazen Wellness Center in San Francisco, Darin is now a facilitator for the SchoolYoga Institute, helping to guide new yoga teachers into the world
Darin has been interviewed for news channels, pod-casts, and has published articles on Floatation, Yoga and Life. (see below)
